DR. STACY J. WHITE
FANNIE LOU HAMER
STATUE COMMITTEE
Dr. Stacy J. White is an educator, researcher and organizer.
She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Valley
State University. She received her B.A. and B.S. degrees from
the University of Mississippi, M.S. degree from Jackson State
University and Ph.D. from Mississippi State University.

She was the Principal Investigator and Project Director for the
Partnership and Mathematics, Science and Technology
Awards (MASTAP) NASA grants totaling over $972,000. She
has presented at numerous conferences and published her
research in several journals.

Dr. White is Chairman of the Sunflower County Civil Rights
Organization, a non-profit organization consisting of Sunflower
County Civil Rights veterans, dedicated to educating,
preserving and commemorating the history of the civil rights
movement in Sunflower County, Mississippi. She has
organized four successful civil rights reunions (1999, 2000,
2004 and 2008) in Sunflower County, Mississippi and has
worked with members of the Sunflower County Civil Rights
Organization to create the Indianola, Mississippi Civil Rights
Driving Tour book. She has been instrumental in the unveiling
of three civil rights historical markers in Indianola, Mississippi:
home site of Irene Magruder, Giles Penny Savers Store and
Freedom School.

She serves on the Board of Directors for the Mississippi Blues
Foundation, Connected Branches, Indianola Historical
Preservation Commission and Khafre, Inc.
The Fannie Lou Hamer Statue Committee (FLHSC) is a
not-for-profit, non political organization comprised of local,
regional and national civil rights activists, scholars and
community leaders who serve as fundraising and educational
ambassadors in conjunction with the City of Ruleville, public,
the Fannie Lou Hamer Statue project.

The FLHSC exists solely for the purpose of  supporting
efforts to honor and pay tribute to Mrs. Hamer by
commissioning the construction of a full-length statue of the
civil and human rights leader, to be placed on permanent
display at the Fannie Lou Hamer Memorial Garden in
Ruleville, Mississippi.
